On the cobbled street of C/Sant Jaume is the five star Glòria Hotel which still – since the 16th century – has retained its original features. 10. Toque de Queda
Tucked away down a side street just off La Rambla, this quirky, understated little restaurant is a gem of a place for a few evening drinks. Its cosy interior conjures up the feeling of being in an old pueblo – Italian owners Alicia and Andrea have kept the place traditionally Spanish with vintage paintings and dark wood furnishings. When darkness descends, the little patio area is decorated with fairy lights. One to note if romance is on the cards…

From the creators of Cappuccino comes this beautiful hotel in the heart of Palma in Plaza Cort. Attention to detail here is spot-on with swift waiting service and a vibrant cocktail menu with a base of fresh and invigorating flavours. Thanks to its outdoor seating area, guests can sit in the plaza and watch the world go by before taking an evening walk down to the cathedral – a pretty 5-minute walk away.
8. Door 13
In a setting not dissimilar from a cosily-lit cave, this secret bar in the heart of Palma is only accessible through coded door. Its wax-dripping candles, gated entrance and stone-heavy interior offer something truly unique. The cocktails are bespoke mixes which combined with a dark and broody atmosphere make Door13 a good choice for those looking for an intimate evening.
7. Tast Club
Tast Club is the essence of cool, a hideaway restaurant on C/ Sant Jaume which wouldn’t look out of place in London. Its elegant bar lies under a vaulted ceiling dotted with pearl-drop chandeliers and mirrored glass. It has the feel of a private members’ club which would make for a smart evening with colleagues or a special occasion.
6. Brass Club
With Rafa Martín at the helm as cocktail-creator, Brassclub is more than just a place for drinks. Here is where cocktails are considered an art form, where passion and zest are felt in every glass or mug or wooden tray (as the case maybe). Each cocktail is unique and is poured straight out of the imagination – creativity sees no limits with drinks like the Mai Tai Egg that comes in a nest. Don’t ask! 5. Assaona
Follow the promenade along past the Cathedral and just before the road starts to curve, you will find Assaona on the corner. As the sun goes down this place really shines on the seafront with its wicker lampshades, Hula beach umbrellas and candlelit tables. It has this warm, fire-crackle ambience that makes any passer-by – even those running along the promenade – slow down for a peek inside. It is magical, made more so with a glass of wine looking out to sea.
4. Beatnik at Purohotel
1950s bohemia. That is what you’ll find at Beatnik where Mallorca’s hippest and coolest go to socialise. True to the Puro spirit, this is one of Palma’s hottest nightspots. DJs and live music create a popping party atmosphere where people dance, drink and dance some more. “Follow your inner moonlight; don’t hide the madness” by Allen Ginsberg shines in neon, which says it all for an evening at Beatnik.
3. Moltabarra in La Ruta Martiana
It’s Tuesday evening. You’re in the centre. One thing comes to mind: La Ruta Martiana. This weekly tapas route sees bars like Moltabarra offer a small tapa or pintxo with a beer for less than 3€. Expect a lively atmosphere where shouts of “Salud!” are heard before droplets of foamy beer hit the floor. While there are lots of bars to choose from, Moltabarra is particularly good for its traditional ambience and local chatter.

Located in the swanky modern development of Palma’s Moll Vell (old pier), you have the choice of a decked terrace restaurant directly overlooking the yacht marina or a rooftop bar with panoramic views that stretch from the iconic cathedral up to the distant hilltop Bellver Castle.
