20 restaurants to celebrate your love in Mallorca

Helen Cummins reveals her list of the most romantic restaurants on the island

Years of having the pleasure of eating out in Mallorca means that when someone asks me for a recommendation I know just where to send them. Give me a few keywords like ‘buzzy’, ‘elegant’, ‘trendy’ or ‘cosy’ and I’m immediately flipping through my mental Filofax of island eateries.

When a friend or acquaintance asks for ‘romantic’, many restaurants come to mind. Mallorca, with its balmy nights, to-die-for views and spectacular settings, seems tailor-made for memorable occasions with a loved one, and these places in particular ooze romance.

A romantic restaurant can take many forms. Here’s my selection running the whole range – from simple beach spots and countryside hideaways to ravishing mountain retreats and chic roof terraces.

Lume & Co Restaurant
20. Lume & Co - Génova
What used to be the stables of the renowned Son Berga Castle has been beautifully renovated and now blends rustic Mallorcan stone with patio lighting, Mediterranean textiles and big, old olive trees. This is an excellent place for anyone tired of the heat and bustle of the city and who wants to replenish and unwind in good company. In the winter months, there is a roaring log fire and, in the summer, a fab patio area that offers a shaded respite.
Es Fum
19. Es Fum - Costa d'en Blanes
The gastronomic jewel of the Hotel St. Regis Mardavall Mallorca Resort delivers haute Mediterranean cuisine that comes under the seasoned expertise of Chef Miguel Navarro. In its desire for continuous renewal, the proposal has been extended with incredible new offerings and three new menus: Origen, Recorrido and Vegetal. Es Fum is a seasonal restaurant that serves dinner only. The intimate ambience and elegant décor spills from the dark wooden interior to the terrace colonnades, where tables are perched above the lush opulent garden that rolls to the sea.
De Tokio a Lima Valldemossa
18. De Tokio a Lima - Valldemossa
Refined fusion food in a spectacular natural setting is what distinguishes De Tokio a Lima in Hotel Valldemossa. While its hugely successful sister restaurant in Palma seduces its clientele with its enviable terrace overlooking Passeig del Born, their second location benefits from sweeping vistas of the Sierra de Tramuntana and the sandstone roofs of La Cartuja.
Restaurant 19 Livingdreams
17. Restaurant 19 Livingdreams - Santa Maria
This fusion restaurant in the centre of the island (Santa Maria) is housed in an old town house with a stunning garden and shady terraces to relax and enjoy the views. The service is excellent and the food is an interesting mix of local and Mediterranean with a hint of Asian influence.
Es Freu d'Orient

There are places in Mallorca that feel like they exist outside of time, and Es Freu d’Orient is one of them. Hidden deep in the Tramuntana mountains, in the tiny village of Orient, this romantic restaurant pairs soulful cooking with the quiet magic of its surroundings. Seasonal Mallorcan ingredients are given thoughtful, often surprising twists by chef Patrick, while Petra ensures every plate, and every guest, is looked after with genuine warmth. Watch the sun dip behind the mountains over dinner, as Es Freu invites you to slow down and savour a meal with your loved one.

Jacaranda
14. Jacaranda - Montuïri
Jacaranda Restaurant is one of those places that tells a story. Not only because of its beautiful setting in the 5-star country hotel Finca Serena Mallorca, but because of how it reimagines local produce. This off-the-beaten-track spot in little-known Pla de Mallorca is worth the significant detour – the views that you get overlooking vast green fields and forests are incredible.

13. Neni - Port de Sóller
“You are what you share,” reads the menu at NENI, the large indoor-outdoor restaurant located in the attractive Bikini Island and Mountain Hotel in Port de Sóller. The food takes inspiration from Israeli, Lebanese, and Mediterranean cuisines, with purposeful adaptions to Mallorcan ingredients. This is the place to take your time with loved ones, feel free and completely switch off. At NENI, everything is fresh flair and fun.

If you admire a great sommelier that knows their stuff, then VORO – a restaurant with 2 Michelin stars – will not disappoint. Each dish is paired with a wine that compliments its flavours, bringing out all those delicious Mediterranean undertones we all love. In the kitchen, chef Álvaro Salazar is creative, to say the least, and loves to twist classic dishes and add a touch of character. You won’t leave VORO without wanting to re-book and return.
RESTAURANTE FUSION 19
4. Fusion 19 - Muro
The evening we dined at Fusion 19 we watched an engagement proposal unfold at the next table, so we are not alone in thinking this restaurant oozes romance. Behind an imposing wooden door on Muro’s main strip, this small and intimate space accommodates just 20 diners at white-clothed tables. A winter garden alcove evokes a feeling of enchantment, and angular wood panelling creates earthy warmth. Chef Javier Hoebeck cut his culinary teeth in some of the world’s best professional kitchens and pays them homage with an elaborate gastro-sensory menu.
Restaurant Sa Terrassa at Hotel Son Bunyola
3. Sa Terrassa at Hotel Son Bunyola - Banyalbufar
‘Elevated’ is certainly a fitting word when describing Son Bunyola Hotel and Villas. Everything here is a cut above, from its position high in the Tramuntana mountains overlooking the shimmering sea, to the food Chef Samuel G. Galdón serves guests and visitors in Sa Terrassa restaurant. For sophisticated Mallorcan flavours, unbeatable sea and mountain views, and a luxurious atmosphere, Sa Terrassa is the restaurant to visit!
Bens D'Avall
2. Bens D'Avall - Sóller
Countless anniversaries have been marked at Bens d’Avall, and with good reason; this perennial Mallorca favourite matches sublime food with a sublime setting. Perched above the Med in between Deià and Sóller, it boasts ravishing terrace views, gracious service and winning ‘New Mallorcan’ food. Special.

Restaurante Yara
1. Yara Restaurant - Portals Nous
Yara’s position overlooking Portals Marina, its striking decor and unparalleled dishes make this one of the best restaurants on the island. With a large tropical-looking terrace overlooking the lavish harbour, this restaurant provides the perfect upscale atmosphere at one of Palma’s most luxurious Marinas. Along with the view, their Mediterannean Asian grill is sure to impress your date on your romantic night out! Tip: Always, always book in advance.
